Philippians 2:5-11

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man
he HUMBLED himself

and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!

Therefore GOD exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,

that at the name of JESUS every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

and every tongue confess that JESUS CHRIST is Lord
to the glory of GOD the Father.

it reminds me of the unity and humility thing we talked about with youth group this weekend.

I like this text a lot too.

It is a reminder of what Christ did for us, in simple terms, in human terms, in our terms.

It also reminds us of how much there is left for us to do, how immeasurably we fall short of God's perfect and unchangeable expectations.

It's amazing, God gives His amazing, steady and unchanging love and wants our human love, our failing, weak, whimsical love that should not even be mentioned in the same sentence as His love for us. Our love is so distinctly human and sinful, and His love, His love is perfect. And I don't even know what that word fully entails! His love is PERFECT. [That word should not be permitted to escape our lips because when it does it is marred by it's contact with our sinful mouths and minds. We can never fully understand what it means until Christ's Great Day, when we are made to be perfect, like Christ, like our Father.]

God's love is perfect.
